Welcome

This website is designed to be a resource for those interested in participating in the citizen science project I have designed for this summer. On this site you will find information on the purpose of the project, instructions for data collection and where to pick up kits. For now, emailing me at sabine.sherrin@ubc.ca is the best way to get access to kits (or through the contact page on this site).

Participants must be willing to get up close and personal with alpine streams (they will be cold). The steps are simple and anyone capable of getting themselves into the alpine will be capable of collecting samples. To learn more about the specifics, check out the instructions page. Briefly, people who are going into the alpine will be given small kits to bring with them. When they come across a stream (can be any stream that meets the criteria and they feel comfortable sampling) they will use small nets to collect invertebrate samples and preserve them in isopropanol for me to identify. To learn more about why this is an important project and the link between this project and my broader objectives for my Master’s degree, check out the purpose page.

If you have any questions, want more details or have any suggestions for organizations that may want to be involved in this project, send me an email, I’d love to chat!
